ESU to Host National Weather Service Storm Safety & Spotter Training

On Wednesday, March 27, a meteorologist from the National Weather Service in Topeka will present weather safety information. This training will focus on severe storm safety, preparedness, and awareness. Storm structure and accurate identification of important cloud features associated with supercell and squall line thunderstorms will also be covered.


ASG Hosts Breaking Barriers Conference

The Emporia State University Associated Student Government will host the third annual Breaking Barriers Conference on Saturday, April 6, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The conference focuses on women in leadership with topics covering professional and personal support systems, civic engagement and the importance of showing up for yourself.



Exhibit Explores Andersen Collection Ties to Emporia, Lyon County History

Emporia State University Special Collections and Archives will hold an opening reception for the exhibit “The Big Picture: Connecting with the Walter M. Andersen Collection” on Wednesday, March 6 from 2 to 4 p.m. The event takes place in the exhibit hall on the first floor of William Allen White Library.


ESU Art Forum Presents Artist Shaun Roberts

The Emporia State University Art Program will host guest artist Shaun Roberts as part of the Art Forum series. The Art Forum presentation is scheduled for Friday, March 1 from 4 to 5 p.m. on the third floor of the Lyon County History Center, located at 711 Commercial St. The event is free and open to the public.



Full-Ride Scholarships Awarded by ESU, Jones Foundation

Four high schools were filled with festive atmospheres as five students from three Kansas counties learned Thursday (Feb. 22, 2024) that they have full-ride scholarships to Emporia State University to pursue their career goals. Each of the five learned the news during assemblies at their high schools.



ESU Theatre Presents ‘Late, A Cowboy Song’ by Sarah Ruhl

Emporia State University Theatre presents “Late, A Cowboy Song” by Sarah Ruhl. Performances are scheduled for Feb. 29 and March 1 and 2 at 7:30 p.m. and March 3 at 2 p.m. in the Ronald Q. Frederickson Black Box Theatre, in Roosevelt Hall.


Bonner and Bonner Diversity Lecture Coming March 7

The 2024 Bonner and Bonner Diversity Lecture, featuring keynote speaker Wesley Hamilton, will take place on Thursday, March 7, at 7 p.m. in Albert Taylor Hall. The theme of the keynote is “Overcoming Any Obstacles by Allowing Disruptions.”
