3.27 RETURN TO WORK
Effective: August 15, 2024
Purpose: The policy aims to facilitate effective communication and collaboration between employees, supervisors, and Human Resources to provide reasonable accommodations for employees with disabilities while considering the essential functions of their positions and any potential financial or administrative constraints.
Scope: This policy applies to all University employees campus wide.
Responsible Office: Human Resources
Policy Statement: Employees who require accommodation for either short- or long-term disabilities should work with their supervisors to develop a reasonable accommodation which does not cause undue hardship for the University. This accommodation must be based upon medical documentation provided by a health care professional. Employees with disabilities who require permanent accommodation for the essential functions of their position may have additional rights in addition to those provided by this policy.
Definitions: All words and phrases shall be interpreted utilizing their plain meanings unless otherwise defined in University or Board of Regents policy or by statute or regulation.
Procedures: All procedures linked and related to the policies above shall have the full force and effect of policy if said procedures have first been properly approved by the University’s administrator in charge of Human Resources.
