3.46 PERSONAL PROPERTY AND BUSINESS

Effective: August 15, 2024

Purpose: The policy ensures workplace appropriateness by expecting discretion in personal items and behavior, disallowing personal business transactions during work hours.

Scope: This policy applies to all University support staff.

Responsible Office: Human Resources

Policy Statement: All personal items should be appropriate for the workplace and professional discretion is expected from employees and supervisors.

Transacting private or personal business during assigned working hours is not permitted. Outgoing or incoming personal phone calls except in emergencies are discouraged. Personal long-distance calls should be billed directly to the employee and are not to be charged to the University.

Definitions: All words and phrases shall be interpreted utilizing their plain meanings unless otherwise defined in University or Board of Regents policy or by statute or regulation.

Procedures: All procedures linked and related to the policies above shall have the full force and effect of policy if said procedures have first been properly approved by the University’s administrator in charge of Human Resources.
