OVERTIME PAY

Effective: August 15, 2024

Purpose: To outline how and when University employees will be compensated for overtime.

Scope: This policy affects all University employees campus wide.

Responsible Office: Payroll, Human Resources

Policy Statement: Holiday hours (the paid time for a holiday when it is not worked) count toward the calculation of overtime eligibility. No other forms of paid leave count toward the calculation of overtime eligibility, e.g., neither sick nor vacation leave. This does not affect other provisions of paying overtime in accordance with state and federal law, and overtime will continue to be compensated with overtime pay or compensatory time for non-exempt employees.

Definitions: All words and phrases shall be interpreted utilizing their plain meanings unless otherwise defined in another University or Board of Regents policy or by statute or regulation.

Procedures: All procedures linked and related to the policies above shall have the full force and effect of policy if said procedures have first been properly approved by the University’s administrator in charge of Human Resources procedures and Payroll Office procedures.
