COMPLIANCE AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT

Effective: August 15, 2024

Purpose: To establish the expectation that all University employees must adhere to applicable laws, regulations, policies, and ethical standards as a condition of their employment.

Scope: This policy applies to all employees of the University, including faculty, staff, administrative personnel, and student employees.

Responsible Office: General University; Human Resources; Office of General Counsel

Policy Statement: Emporia State University is committed to maintaining the highest standards of ethics and compliance in all aspects of its operations. As a condition of employment and as part of an employee’s professional duties, all employees are expected to know, and are required to comply with, all applicable federal, state, and local laws, University policies, and ethical standards.

Definitions: All words and phrases shall be interpreted utilizing their plain meanings unless otherwise defined in another University or Board of Regents policy or by statute or regulation.

Compliance – Adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and ethical standards.

Employee – Any person employed by the University including faculty, staff, administrative personnel, and student employees.

Procedures: All procedures linked and related to the policies above shall have the full force and effect of policy if said procedures have first been properly approved by the University’s administrator in charge of General University and Human Resources procedures.
