REPORTING CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE

Effective: August 15, 2024

Purpose: To inform faculty and staff of requirement to report child sexual abuse.

Scope: The policy applies University wide.

Responsible Office: Police and Safety

Policy Statement: University faculty and staff are required to report incidents of child sexual abuse, as they are defined by K.S.A. 21-5501 et seq., that they witness on campus or during University sponsored events to University Police and Safety, or other appropriate law enforcement. Retaliation for lawfully reporting crimes is prohibited.

Definitions: All words and phrases shall be interpreted utilizing their plain meanings unless otherwise defined in University or Board of Regents policy or by statute or regulation.

Procedures: All procedures linked and related to the policies above shall have the full force and effect of policy if said procedures have first been properly approved by the University’s administrator in charge of General University procedures.
