7.08 MAIL AND POSTAGE
Effective: August 15, 2024
Purpose: The University operates a Mail Center for the purpose of receiving and distributing official University mail in conformance with the Federal Private Express Statutes Vol. 39 Federal Register, pp. 33211-13, Section 310.3(b).
Scope: This policy applies to the University campus wide.
Responsible Office: Campus and Facilities
Policy Statement: The University Mail Center is available to University offices and bona fide faculty or student organizations for: (1) posting outgoing mail, (2) receiving items from the U.S. Post Office, and (3) distributing inter-office mail. Unauthorized materials such as political, labor unions, religious, or personal mail cannot be distributed through the Mail Center. In order to be metered, all University related mail must contain the University’s return address. University envelopes cannot be used for personal mail.
The services of the Mail Center are for official University business only. Receipt of personal mail and items not for official University purposes is not permitted. University staff, faculty, academic units, and organizations must observe U.S. Postal regulations in distribution of items by the Mail Center. Failure to do so can result in revocation of privileges through the Mail Center.
Definitions: All words and phrases shall be interpreted utilizing their plain meanings unless otherwise defined in University or Board of Regents policy or by statute or regulation.
Procedures: All procedures linked and related to the policies above shall have the full force and effect of policy if said procedures have first been properly approved by the University’s administrator in charge of Campus and Facilities.
