7.15 FLAGS

Effective: August 15, 2024

Purpose: To provide guidance on when the Emporia State University flag should be flown at half-staff.

Scope: The policy applies to the University campus wide.

Responsible Office: General University; Campus and Facilities

Policy Statement: In the event of death of a current Emporia State University student, staff member, or faculty member, the Emporia State University flag will be flown at half-staff on the day of the funeral or memorial service. Individuals having knowledge of a student or employee death should present that information to the President's office. The flags will only be lowered upon order from the President's office.

Definitions: All words and phrases shall be interpreted utilizing their plain meanings unless otherwise defined in University or Board of Regents policy or by statute or regulation.

Procedures: All procedures linked and related to the policies above shall have the full force and effect of policy if said procedures have first been properly approved by the University’s administrator in charge of Campus and Facilities, and General University procedures.
