4.09 UNIVERSITY RECOGNITION OF FACULTY ORGANIZATIONS
Effective: August 15, 2024
Purpose: To define faculty organizations and establish the governing body that grants the status of faculty organizations.
Scope: This policy applies to faculty who participate in University organizations.
Responsible Office: Academic Affairs
Policy Statement: Faculty organizations can seek University recognition through a resolution of the Faculty Senate. Any faculty organization wishing to seek University recognition must submit a letter of application to the Faculty Senate office.
Definitions: All words and phrases shall be interpreted utilizing their plain meanings unless otherwise defined in University or Board of Regents policy or by statute or regulation.
Faculty Organization - An organization whose officers are Emporia State University faculty members, staff or students, the majority of whom are faculty members, and whose mission is the advancement of academic excellence, such as scholarly activities, professional service, or promotion of academic standards and rights.
Procedures: All procedures linked and related to the policies above shall have the full force and effect of policy if said procedures have first been properly approved by the University’s administrator in charge of Academic Affairs Procedures.
