4.45 UNDERGRADUATES EARNING GRADUATE CREDIT
Effective: August 15, 2024
Purpose: To outline the requirements for University undergraduate students to earn credit for graduate courses.
Scope: This policy applies to all University students campus wide.

Policy Statement: Undergraduate students may earn graduate credit after accumulating ninety (90) undergraduate hours unless they are in an Accelerated Online Programs
Graduate courses taken may not be used to meet undergraduate requirements, except in case of approved accelerated master’s programs.
Undergraduate students who take graduate credit may only enroll for a total of seventeen (17) semester hours during the fall/spring or a total of ten (10) hours for the summer term (undergraduate/graduate). No more than twelve (12) semester hours of graduate credit can be accumulated in this way.
Only those courses numbered 500-799 will be considered for graduate credit before the undergraduate degree has been awarded. Undergraduate students may not enroll in 800 or 900 level graduate classes.
In an approved 4+1 Master’s program, requiring forty (40) or more hours of graduate coursework, no more than fifteen (15) semester hours of graduate credit can be accumulated as an undergraduate earning graduate credit.
Definitions: All words and phrases shall be interpreted utilizing their plain meanings unless otherwise defined in another University or Board of Regents policy or by statute or regulation.
Procedures: All procedures linked and related to the policies above shall have the full force and effect of policy if said procedures have first been properly approved by the University’s administrator in charge of Academic Affairs.
