4.15 TRAINING AND EVALUATION OF ACADEMIC UNIT ADMINISTRATIVE SUPERVISORS

Effective: August 15, 2024

Purpose: To provide the standards for training of those individuals who are responsible for annual evaluations.

Scope: This policy applies to persons responsible for annual evaluations.

Responsible Office: Academic Affairs

Policy Statement: Just as annual evaluations reflect individual faculty assignments, they also vary according to the characteristics of each college or school and the standards of the faculty member’s discipline. It is the responsibility of each college or school dean to ensure that academic unit administrative supervisors receive training in the administration of faculty evaluations that is consistent with, and supportive of, department and college/school written and approved expectations for faculty performance.

Evaluation of the Academic Unit’s Administrative Supervisor by Faculty

The performance of the academic unit’s administrative supervisor is to be evaluated regularly.

Definitions: All words and phrases shall be interpreted utilizing their plain meanings unless otherwise defined in another University or Board of Regents policy or by statute or regulation.

Procedures: All procedures linked and related to the policies above shall have the full force and effect of policy if said procedures have first been properly approved by the University’s administrator in charge of Academic Affairs.
