SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS

Effective: August 15, 2024

Purpose: To ensure that all students meet the federal, state, and local financial aid program requirements for eligibility.

Scope: This policy applies to all University students campus wide.

Responsible Office: Business and Finance; Financial Aid Office

Policy Statement: The University is committed to the philosophy that students who receive financial aid must maintain satisfactory academic progress toward the completion of degree requirements. To be in compliance with federal regulations, four (4) measures will be used to track that progress:

  • cumulative grade point achievement,
  • time frame that it takes to complete a degree,
  • minimum number of credits completed each term, and
  • the number of attempts of a single course.

Definitions: All words and phrases shall be interpreted utilizing their plain meanings unless otherwise defined in another University or Board of Regents policy or by statute or regulation.

Procedures: All procedures linked and related to the policies above shall have the full force and effect of policy if said procedures have first been properly approved by the University’s administrator in charge of Business and Finance.
