MILITARY SERVICE CREDIT

Effective: August 15, 2024

Purpose: To recognize and honor the valuable experiences and education gained by students who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

Scope: This policy applies to all University students campus wide.

Responsible Office: Academic Affairs; Registrar’s Office

Policy Statement: Students who have previously served in the U.S. Armed Forces may be eligible for college credit based on their military experience. General elective credit is granted at a rate of one (1) credit per six (6) months of active duty, with a maximum of eight (8) credits allowed. Additional credit may be awarded for completed military education. However, students are limited to applying twenty-five percent (25%) of their total course hours toward graduation in pass-no credit courses, including military credit.

Definitions: All words and phrases shall be interpreted utilizing their plain meanings unless otherwise defined in another University or Board of Regents policy or by statute or regulation.

Procedures: All procedures linked and related to the policies above shall have the full force and effect of policy if said procedures have first been properly approved by the University’s administrator in charge of Academic Affairs.
