4.18 FACULTY ENROLLMENT AT EMPORIA STATE UNIVERSITY

Effective: August 15, 2024

Purpose: To provide requirements and limitations for faculty enrollment at the University.

Scope: This policy applies to all faculty with a rank of Assistant Professor or higher.

Responsible Office: Academic Affairs

Policy Statement: A full-time faculty member at ESU with the rank of Assistant Professor or above may not earn a degree at this University. Exceptions to this rule may be granted by the Vice President for Academic Affairs in circumstances where conflict of interest is deemed not present. An exception must be applied for and granted before a faculty member can apply for admission and work toward a degree at Emporia State University. 

Definitions: All words and phrases shall be interpreted utilizing their plain meanings unless otherwise defined in another University or Board of Regents policy or by statute or regulation.

Procedures: All procedures linked and related to the policies above shall have the full force and effect of policy if said procedures have first been properly approved by the University’s administrator in charge of Academic Affairs.
