COURSE AUDITS

Effective: August 15, 2024

Purpose: To outline the requirements for individuals to audit a course.

Scope: This policy applies to the University campus wide.

Responsible Office: Academic Affairs; Registrar’s Office

Policy Statement: Students may audit a course if special arrangements are made with the Registrar and the instructor before the tenth (10th) day of the semester. For courses meeting less than a full semester, the student must initiate audit enrollment by no later than the third (3rd) class meeting. Audited courses may not be used to satisfy course or credit hour requirements toward a degree.

Courses enrolled in for audit credit do not count in computing minimum course load requirements for graduate assistants. Any exception for graduate assistants must be requested by the academic unit’s supervisory administrator and approved prior to enrollment by the Dean of the Graduate School.

Definitions: All words and phrases shall be interpreted utilizing their plain meanings unless otherwise defined in another University or Board of Regents policy or by statute or regulation.

Procedures: All procedures linked and related to the policies above shall have the full force and effect of policy if said procedures have first been properly approved by the University’s administrator in charge of Academic Affairs.
