Students who select the elementary/special education option take many of the same courses that other elementary education majors take; however, they also take specialized courses preparing them to work with diverse learners who qualify for special education services.

What experiences will I get in the general education classroom and special education classroom?

Throughout your program of study, you will have experiences working in both settings. During your student teaching semester, you can expect to spend eight weeks of student teaching in a K-6 general education classroom and eight weeks of student teaching in a K-6 special education classroom.
