Hao He
Assistant Professor of School of Library & Information Management
Dr. Hao He is currently an assistant professor at the School of Library and Information Management at Emporia State University. His research interests include virtual reality learning environments, game-based learning, creativity fostering, and STEM education (focusing on engineering education and nursing education). In recent years, he has been exploring how to integrate generative AI into XR environments in library settings to enhance patrons’ experiences. He teaches courses including LI862 VR/AR in Libraries, LI810 Research Methods in Library and Information Science, and LI843 Web Design and Development. In his teaching, Dr. He believes that student-centered teaching approaches may not always be suitable for every student, while the methods students are most accustomed to are the best for their learning, even if some methods are teacher-centered. In addition to research and teaching, Dr. He serves as the VP of Communications in the Design and Development (D&D) division of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT).
Dr. He earned his Ph.D. from the School of Information Science and Learning Technologies at the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2023. He received his M.Ed. in educational technology from the same department and university in 2017. He received a B.A. in English Language and Literature from Zhejiang University City College in China in 2008 and then worked as an English teacher and an educational project manager for seven years.
