Veteran’s Day 2021 will be celebrated on the Emporia State University campus on Saturday, Nov. 6, with two special events — the annual Veterans Celebration followed by the dedication of a new Student Veteran Center on campus.
Inclusive Excellence is the theme at Emporia State University on Monday, Nov. 1, during an afternoon of presentations for both the campus and Emporia communities.
Emporia State University Theatre presents William Shakespeare’s “The Tragedie of Macbeth” Nov. 19 through 21 at the Ronald Q. Frederickson Theatre in Roosevelt Hall. Performances are Nov. 19 and 20 are at 7:30 p.m., and Nov. 21 at 2 p.m.
Finalist teams for the fourth annual Community Impact Challenge will pitch to a panel of judges composed of members from the Emporia community and Emporia State University at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27. Finalists have a chance to win a grant to put their ideas to address challenges facing the Emporia community into action by the end of the 2021-22 school year.
An ambitious fundraising campaign launched in the midst of a pandemic exceeded expectations, leaders of the Emporia State University Foundation announced during Homecoming 2021 activities on Friday, Oct. 22. Together, Forward: A Campaign for Emporia State will continue with a new stretch goal.
At least one Emporia State alum has a bit more excitement during Homecoming 2021. Tiffany Wilson, who has served since 2018 as alumni programs coordinator for the ESU Alumni Association, is now the director of alumni relations.
The Emporia Marching Hornets, cheer squad and ESU football players will lead the route at 11 a.m. Saturday as Emporia State students in recognized student organizations travel campus between White Library and the tailgate area on the north end on Saturday morning.
Two groups of Emporia State students have planned early trick-or-treating opportunities for local children.
As Emporia State alumni return to campus for in-person celebrations, the university welcomes the Emporia community to also enjoy the special events. Homecoming 2021 begins Thursday, Oct. 21 and concludes with a matinee of the musical on Sunday, Oct. 24. In between these dates will be a celebration with a live concert, food trucks and a special announcement about Together, Forward, The Campaign for Emporia State.
