ESU alum Command Sgt. Maj. Steve Harmon will take responsibility as the command senior enlisted advisor for the Kansas Army National Guard in a Change of Responsibility ceremony Sunday. Harmon (BA Political Science 1983; MS Counselor Education 1996; MS Instructional Design & Technology 2008) will manage the Kansas Army National Guard enlisted force and represent their interests at all levels of local and state government and to the public.


Saturday: Tour New Residence Hall, Attend Final Summer Theatre Play

Emporia State University is opening its doors Saturday afternoon with two great events for Emporia and the surrounding community. Schallenkamp Hall, the newest residence hall on campus, can be toured from 1 to 3 p.m. At 2 p.m., the curtain rises on the final production of ESU Summer Theatre’s 65th season — “The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs” — in the Karl C. Bruder Theatre in King Hall.




Community Invited to Tour ESU’s New Residence Hall

Before students move into Schallenkamp Hall, the public is invited to tour the newest residence hall on the Emporia State University campus. The building at 1230 Market St., Emporia, will be open from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 27, for tours.


Summer Theatre Presents 'The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)'

Actors rapping to “Othello” is just one of the featured moments as ESU Summer Theatre continues its 65th anniversary season with its third production of the season, “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, abridged.” A spirited and fast-paced comedy by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield, “Complete Works” will be presented in the Karl C. Bruder Theatre at 7:30 p.m. nightly July 10 through 13.


Viewing of Fireworks Ideal on Emporia State Campus

Welch Stadium on the Emporia State University campus will open at 8 p.m. for people who want to view the community fireworks display on Thursday, July 4. The west side of the stadium and the field offer the best views.
