Fifty-seven Emporia State University students from The Teachers College and one retiring faculty member received special recognition at The Teachers College in May. Twenty-two received outstanding student awards and 40 students were honored for achievement of a 3.8 grade point average or higher.
Undergraduate and graduate students were honored for excellence in their respective departments. Nine students received outstanding undergraduate student awards and 13 students received outstanding graduate student awards.
The two faculty members, Dr. Jane Eberle and Dr. Harvey Foyle, were both professors from the Department of Instructional Design and Technology.

Honored Faculty
The Teachers College recognized three individuals who are retiring this academic year. Each of these individuals has loyally served Emporia State University and its students.
Dr. Jane Eberle, Professor, Instructional Design and Technology and Dr. Kathy Ermler, Dean of the Graduate School and Distance Education were unable to attend the banquet.
Dr. Harvey Foyle is retiring as Professor in the Instructional Design and Technology Department. He came to ESU in 1987 as coordinator of Social Studies education program in the Division of Social Sciences in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. Prior to coming to Emporia State, Foyle taught social studies at Hillsboro and Emporia High Schools and Tabor College and was a church pastor. At ESU, he has taught and mentored both undergraduate and graduate students in on-campus, online, and hybrid environments. He received the Excellence in Teaching: Higher Education award from the Kansas Council for the Social Studies. His research interests include integrating technology into instruction, observation and conferencing in teacher education, homework, and cooperative learning. His scholarly productivity includes 14 books, 48 articles in refereed journals, and numerous presentations. Among his many honors, Foyle is Roe R. Cross Distinguished Professor, the highest honor for a professor at Emporia State University.
