Students in selected counties in Missouri and Oklahoma can now enroll at Emporia State University in Kansas without paying out-of-state tuition. The additional counties approved last week bring in-state tuition to students in 14 Missouri counties — Andrew, Bates, Buchanan, Caldwell, Cass, Clay, Clinton, DeKalb, Jackson, Johnson, Lafayette, Livingston, Platte and Ray — and 26 Oklahoma counties — Canadian, Cleveland, Cherokee, Creek, Garfield, Grady, Grant, Kingfisher, Kay, Lincoln, Logan, McClain, Muskogee, Noble, Nowata, Oklahoma, Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Osage, Pawnee, Payne, Pottawatomie, Rogers, Tulsa, Wagoner and Washington — through the university’s Corky Plus tuition plan.
Emporia State, named a College of Distinction for its high-impact, real-world learning experiences and active campus life, offers over 200 academic programs in the School of Business, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, The Teachers College and School of Library and Information Management, is consistently recognized for its educational excellence and affordability. According to September 2017 data from the Institute for College Access & Success, ESU’s Class of 2016 reported an average debt load of $20,433, significantly lower than the Oklahoma average student debt of $25,856, Missouri average of $27,532 and Kansas average of $28,776. The Best Colleges 2018 guidebook by U.S. News and World Report, ESU is ranked No. 2 in lowest student debt of all Midwest regional universities. U.S. News also cited ESU’s School of Business as a best value for both in-state and out-of-state students and ranked the online graduate education program in the Top 100 programs in the nation.
