Everyone has arrived safely in Serbia. We had some delayed flights, some tight connections and one cancelled flight from Vienna, that delayed two of our group, but everyone is now here and installed in the beautiful Hotel Moskva - a lovely 1920s art deco building in the center of Belgrade.
Most of us (other than the two latecomers) were able to enjoy dinner this evening in Skadarlija - the old bohemian district of Belgrade, with very traditional Serbian restaurants lining a charming, steep, cobbled street. We were joined by two librarians - Zoran Zdravković who works for the Belgrade City Library, and Željko Dimitrijević, who has worked at the American Corner in Belgrade and at the National Library, and is now in an academic library. (For the librarians on the list, Željko was an OCLC fellow a couple of years ago.) Zoran and Željko were able to answer many of the questions the students already had, as well as providing excellent company.
Everyone has now retired, to recover from all the travel.
