Legislation to recognize the Memorial to Fallen Educators at Emporia State University as a national memorial is headed to the desk of President Donald Trump after passage today by the U.S. House of Representatives.

The bill was sponsored by Rep. Roger Marshall (R-Kansas) with bipartisan support from representatives from nine different states.

“We are grateful to Representative Marshall for sponsoring this bill through the House to get the Memorial to Fallen Educators designated as a national memorial,” said ESU President Allison D. Garrett.

The action in the House today follows action in December in the Senate on a bill sponsored by Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kansas).
