A University of Kansas School of Medicine neurologist and faculty member, as well as a former Missouri business owner and chief financial officer are two new trustees on the 45-member board for the Emporia State University Foundation.
Dr. Muhammad M. Nashatizadeh of Lenexa earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, with a minor in Chemistry from Emporia State in 1998. He is the Director of Inpatient Movement Disorders and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine.
“I am honored to serve in this role and give back to the institution that prepared me academically for a fulfilling career in medical education and neurology,” Dr. Nashatizadeh said. “The opportunities at Emporia State University allowed me to practice contemplation, responsibility, prioritization and ultimately, adulthood. I look forward to working with many talented and highly successful people during this three-year term and supporting the well-conceived programs at ESU.”
John R. “Trip” Shannon III of Overland Park earned a Bachelor of Science in Business degree in Accounting from Emporia State in 1985. He co-owned A & B Body Shop, Inc. in Northmoor, Missouri, and previously acted as CFO. Currently, Shannon is semi-retired, using his free time to volunteer and work on special projects.
This marks Shannon’s return to the Foundation Trustee Board. Previously he served four years from 2015 to 2019.
Trustees serve as role models for potential donors by generously contributing their own time and resources. They are actively involved in university events and programs and serve to raise philanthropic resources to advance the mission of Emporia State University.
