Explore the global village that is Emporia State University as Emporia State international students showcase their native cuisines and cultures during the annual International Food Festival. The event will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 1, in Webb Hall of the Memorial Union.
Held every spring, the event provides students and the Emporia community an opportunity to experience food and culture from around the world.
Groups selling food include students from France, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Syria, Bolivia, Germany, Finland, Costa Rica and China; as well as student organizations like Model United Nations, UMOJA, Intensive English Program, Las Esmeraldas, Japanese Association Sakura, Black Student Union, Saudi Club, HALO, Chinese Students and Scholars Association, KOSA and ASCA.
Diners will find a variety of foods, some familiar and some new to them.
Foods include tabbouleh, sweets from Tunisia and Pakistan, Finnish cardamom buns, teriyaki chicken skewers, spring rolls, braised pork rice, plantains, enchiladas, tamales, empanadas and falafel. Transactions are cash only.
Students also will share their cultures through music and dance.
