Credits for this production include Dr. Amanda Lickteig as Woody, Dr. Joan Brewer as Buzz Lightyear, Dr. Zeni Colorado-Resa as Etch, elementary education major Andrea L’Ecuyer as Jessie, Dr. Sara Schwerdtfeger as Mr. Potato Head, Dr. Sunnin Keosybounheuang as Rex had an emergency substitution as she was ill, so business major Kara Horton stepped in, Dr. Tiffany Hill as Sarge, and Dr. Ken Weaver as Andy.
Coach of the Year
Congratulations to alum Jesse Griffin (BSE Psychology, 1994; BSE Math, 1994; MS HPER, 1997) who was named 2017-18 National High School Girls’ Track and Field Coach of the Yearby the National High School Coaches Association. In 2017, the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association named Griffin Coach of the Year. Griffin is a math teacher and head coach at Lee’s Summit West High School in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
Arts & Sciences
Congratulations to Dr. Kat O’Meara, who received a mentoring award from the WPA-GO, the graduate organization that is affiliated with Council of Writing Program Administrators.
Business
Dr. Jeff Muldoon has been named associate editorof the Journal of Management History. Dr. Muldoon has served on the editorial board for two years and was awarded Best Paper in 2013.
Dr. Joyce Zhou participated in the Chinese Students and Scholars Associationorientation for new students on August 19.
Library & Information Management
The Oregon SLIM graduationearlier this month was featured on the Oregon Multicultural Archives Blog.
Congratulations to current SLIM student Emma England who was profiled for her work on early literacyon the front page of The Examiner newspaper in Independence, Missouri.
The Oregon Library Association Leadership Development Committee awarded $500 scholarships to Kim Read, Dean of the Libraries at Concordia University, and Colleen Sanders, Reference and Instruction Librarian at Clackamas Community College, to support their attendance at upcoming professional development seminars. Read (Oregon MLS 2010) will attend the Reframing Racism Series at the Center for Equity and Inclusion (CEI) in Portland this fall. Sanders (Oregon MLS 2015) will use her scholarship to attend the Race & Pedagogy National Conference at the University of Puget Sound in September.

Dr. Jim Persinger, psychology, presented at the GLSEN National Chapter Leadership Instituteon July 29 in Austin, Texas. His workshop was “Self-Care for Helpers: What Gives Us Energy, and What Drains It?”
Dr. Andrew Smith presented the paper Best of both worlds?: Using blended learning in a professional librarian preparation program at the Sixth International Scientific Conference: Culture of the University and Philology, in Serbia
Dr. Kat O’Meara presented on two panels at the 2018 Council of Writing Program Administrators’summer conference: “Innovation Through Emotion: Hurt and Trauma as the Exigence for Action,” and “What if We Were WPAs All Along? The WPA Course Reimagined for Master’s Students and K-12 Teachers,” which was part of a roundtable on the graduate course in writing program administration.
Mohammed S.Rahman and Md Rakibul Haque presented “Factors Affecting the Adoption of Telemedicine in Rural Areas of Bangladesh” at the Twenty-fourth Americas Conference on Information Systemsin New Orleans August 8–11.
Conferences
Six students and faculty advisor Dr. M. George Durler, attended the 99th Annual Meeting of Beta Alpha Psi, the international honors service organization for accounting, information systems, and finance majors, in Washington, D.C., August 9–11. The students who attended were Jacob Hubbard, Madeline Wood, Alex McAnerney, Anthony Sanchez, Tyler Rogers and Tami Schaefer.
Publications
Dr. Andrew Smith’s paper, “Online sheet music libraries: Issues of copyright and participant education” has been published in Proceedings of the 16th International Scientific Conference - MELISSA (Museums, Ethics, Libraries and Information Science Studies, Archives): Transculturality and Libraries, Belgrade, Serbia.
Dr. Bill Jensen and his former graduate student Eric Wilson (M.S. Biology, 2016) recently published “Habitat use by secretive marsh birds during spring and fall migration in moist-soil wetlands in Kansas” in Wilson Journal of Ornithology.
Michael M. Widdersheim, assistant professor in SLIM, co-published an article in the journal Library Management titled “Specialties and strategies in academic libraries: A cluster analysis approach."
Gaelynn Wolf Bordonaro (professor, art therapy) and Lynnette Schreiner (associate professor, nursing) wrote “Using Non-Traditional Curricular Tools to Address Death and Dying in Nursing Education,” which will be published in the June 2019 issue of the Journal of Hospice and Palliative Nursing.
