ESU Promotes Four in Student Services

Four Emporia State employees have been promoted to leadership roles following the retirement of Elaine Henrie, university registrar and director of Financial Aid.

In Registration, Sheila Markowitz is now the university registrar and Sheri Brooks is associate registrar. In Financial Aid, Jaime Morris is director of the Office of Financial Aid, Scholarships and Veterans Services, and Thad Davidson is the director for financial aid technology.

All four are Emporia State alumni and have more than 50 years combined experience at ESU.

Markowitz earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology with a minor in psychology in 1986. In the early 1990s, she worked in ESU’s payroll office for a year. She joined Registration in June 2003 as associate registrar. She currently is also working on her master’s degree in school counseling and plans to graduate in May 2019.

In 1994, Brooks earned her bachelor of fine arts degree in communication. She joined ESU as transfer and training coordinator in Registration in December 2001. In 2014, she earned her master’s degree in instructional design and technology.

Jaime Morris joined ESU’s financial aid office in October 2006 as scholarship coordinator after spending 18 months working in financial aid for Flint Hills Technical College. She most recently served as associate director of the Office of Financial Aid, Scholarships and Veterans Services. Morris earned a bachelor of science business degree in computer information systems in 2003 and a master’s degree in industrial/organizational psychology in 2013. 

Davidson worked in financial aid as a work study student from 1998 to 2002 when he earned his bachelor of science in computer science from Emporia State. He joined the office full time in 2005 as associate director for technology. In 2016, he earned his master of business administration degree from ESU.
