ESU International Students Share Their Cultures

It’s International Education Week at Emporia State University and our students want to share their cultures with the campus and Emporia community. Events planned include:

 

Wednesday, Nov. 14

  • Intercultural Skills Workshop for Faculty and Staff, 3-4 p.m., Preston Family Room in the Memorial Union. Participants will develop their communication skills with international students.
  • Explore the World at ESU, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Center for Student Involvement Lounge in the Memorial Union. International students are available to chat with and try some tea.
  • America, Through the Eyes of International Students, 1-3 p.m., Greek Room in the Memorial Union. What do students in our Intensive English Program think of the United States? Find out with these skits they perform.

 

Thursday, Nov. 15

  • Explore the World at ESU, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Center for Student Involvement Lounge in the Memorial Union. International students are available to chat with and try some tea.
  • Ask Me Why, Don’t Be Shy, 7-9 p.m., Greek Room in the Memorial Union. Co-sponsored by ESU Residential Life, participants can join interactive activities and engage in a Q&A on cultural topics with both U.S. and international students.

 

Friday, Nov. 16

  • International Culture Show, 7-9 p.m., Albert Taylor Hall in Plumb Hall. Dance, music and other performances showcasing the many different countries represented at ESU.

 

Saturday, Nov. 17

  • Share Your Story: Exploring Cultural Biases, 1-2 p.m., Lyon County History Center, downtown Emporia. Latin American students offer an interactive discussion on cultural stereotypes and biases. The panel includes students from Bolivia, Paraguay and Guatemala.
