Economic Policies to Escape from Poverty Topic of Lecture on Thursday

The business dean at North Dakota State University will present the second Governance, Law and Economics Lecture at Emporia State University.

Dr. Scott A. Beaulier will discuss the role institutions play in creating a vibrant environment for human flourishing at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 29, in the Phi Kappa Phi Room of ESU’s Memorial Union. During this lecture, Beaulier will discuss how some nations like Botswana have improved its citizens’ well-being while other countries have room for improvement.

An economist by training, Beaulier has spent his career actively engaged in understanding and advocating for policies that foster dynamic, vibrant economies that best allow businesses and entrepreneurs to thrive. But, while policies are integral, Dr. Beaulier believes that people — innovative, creative, and dedicated business leaders — are the life blood of any economy. And, business schools have an enormous responsibility and role in preparing the next generation to change the world through business.

The lecture is free and open to the public. A reception will follow. RSVPs can be sent to http://bit.ly/2HwBz7q.
