Events to Celebrate American Archives Month

Emporia State University Special Collections and Archives invites the campus and community to events in celebration of October as American Archives Month. All events will take place in the Exhibit Hall outside Room 119 of William Allen White Library.


Events Celebrate May Massee Collection

William Allen White Children’s Book Winners Announced

Two authors who live on opposite coasts of the United States will come to Kansas in October to accept the 2022 William Allen White Children’s Book Awards. Voters in Grades 3 through 5 selected “Wildfire” by Rodman Philbrick. Voters in Grades 6 through 8 selected “The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise” by Dan Gemeinhart.

William Allen White Children’s Book Winners Announced

The spirit of the supernatural is the common denominator between the two books selected by Kansas schoolchildren for the 2021 William Allen White Children’s Book Awards. Voters in Grades 3 through 5 selected “Small Spaces” by Katherine Arden. Voters in Grades 6 through 8 chose “Ghost Boys” by Jewell Parker Rhodes.


Archives Presents Literary Journal Discussion

Emporia State University Special Collections and Archives presents a discussion with Cheryl Unruh and Tracy Million Simmons, editors of 105: Meadowlark Reader, a new literary journal dedicated to creative nonfiction by Kansas authors.


Two Book Readings in Late October

Emporia State University Special Collections and Archives invites the campus and community to literary readings from two Kansas novels published by Meadowlark Books, an Emporia-based independent press dedicated to books from the Midwest.
