Biology Professor Earns ESU’s Highest Professional Honor

A professor who delights in sharing his knowledge and mentoring the next generation of biologists is the 2024 Roe R. Cross Distinguished Professor at Emporia State University. Dr. William Jensen, professor of wildlife ecology, director of ESU Natural Areas and director of the Schmidt Museum of Natural History, learned of the award during his field ecology class on Tuesday, April 30.



David Sharlow Is New Dean for Visual, Performing Arts

ESU Screening of ‘Hot Times in the Heartland’ Postponed

Because of forecasted bad weather, the on-campus showing of “Hot Times in the Heartland” originally scheduled for Thursday, April 25, is postponed. The rescheduled date is Monday, April 29, at 6 p.m. in Science Hall 72. A question-and-answer session with the filmmakers will follow the free screening.


Emporia State Now Offering $63 College Courses to Area High School Students

April 19, 2024: High school junior and seniors who want a Jump Start on their college careers now have an option to take college classes on the Emporia State University campus for just $21 per credit hour. This scholarship offering to our regional high school students is another example of the university’s commitment to reduce costs for students and their families.

Emporia State University will host a showing of the documentary film “Hot Times in the Heartland” on Thursday, April 25 at 6 p.m. in Science Hall 72. The documentary explores how a changing climate is impacting Kansas and the approaches communities are taking to adapt.


Aubrey Wilson Announced as New Director of Theatre

The new director of theatre at Emporia State University brings a diverse background of stage management and instructional experience. Aubrey Wilson is welcomed into the new role after teaching theatre appreciation and directing Sarah Ruhl’s “Late, A Cowboy Song” in the School of Visual and Performing Arts during the 2023 academic year.


Women's History Month Reception and Awards Ceremony

ESU to Host National Weather Service Storm Safety & Spotter Training

On Wednesday, March 27, a meteorologist from the National Weather Service in Topeka will present weather safety information. This training will focus on severe storm safety, preparedness, and awareness. Storm structure and accurate identification of important cloud features associated with supercell and squall line thunderstorms will also be covered.
