Campus Closing at 3:30 Because of Severe Weather Threat

Because of the threat of severe weather, the Emporia State University campus will shut down at 3:30 p.m. today. All events after that time are cancelled.

ESU Emergency Manager Carrie Boettcher recommends the following:

Have at least two methods of receiving severe weather alerts such as a weather radio, app on your cell phone, TV, or the radio.

The safest place to be during a tornado is in an underground shelter, basement, or safe room- go to the lowest level and most interior space of a hardened structure.  Mobile structures are not safe locations during a tornado or other severe winds.  Plan ahead and identify your shelter location before the storm arrives.  Additional information is available at http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/severeweather/prepare.shtml.

Be weather aware and follow local media outlets or the National Weather Service for current forecast information.
