With two popular events on campus Friday night, parking at Emporia State will be at a premium.
The Kansas Shine Bowl banquet with more than 1,000 guests and the final Summer Theatre production of “The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales” will overlap on the east side of campus. The banquet is in the Memorial Union and the theater production in King Hall, immediately north of the Union.
“We are encouraging our theater patrons to allow extra time for parking and arriving at the theater in time for the 7:30 p.m. curtain,” said Jim Bartruff, director of ESU Summer Theatre.
Theater-goers are welcome to drop off passengers on Market Street by the theater or in Kellogg Circle, which likely will be less congested. Knowing that many will park on the west side of campus by White Library and Science Hall, plans are being made to have shuttles available for those who need assistance because of distance.
“The Stinky Cheese Man” opens today (Wednesday, July 27) and runs at 7:30 p.m. through Friday. On Saturday, the show is presented as a matinee at 2 p.m. All performances are in the Karl C. Bruder Theatre, 1301 Market St. For tickets, visit the Memorial Union Ticket Office or call 620-341-6378.
