Archive Exhibit Showcases World War I, Memorial Union

A new exhibit at Emporia State University honoring student, staff and faculty veterans opens Wednesday, Feb. 15. The exhibit, “WWI and the Memorial Union: Honoring Veterans, Serving Students,” is curated by ESU Special Collection and Archives and showcases students, staff and faculty who served from the Spanish-American War through current conflicts in the Middle East.

The exhibit coincides with the centennial anniversary of the United States entering World War I on April 6, 1917. A display centered around the Memorial Union, which was built in honor of those who served in the Spanish-American War and World War I, appears alongside the celebration of ESU’s service men and women. This part of the exhibit will feature current student organizations and services.

Throughout the exhibit’s duration, several organizations, like Zoiks! and a choir ensemble, will be using a space entitled Wooster’s Entertainment Club to showcase their talents.

The exhibit, which will be displayed through July, is on the first floor of White Library.

An opening reception is from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 15 with appetizers and beverages.
