Two awards will be presented during the award and recognition ceremony on Research and Creativity Day on Thursday, April 28, at Emporia State University.
Dr. Jinxuan (Jenny) Ma will receive the 2022 President’s Award for Research and Creativity. Ma, an associate professor in the School of Library and Information Management, will receive $3,500.
Dr. Will Phillips, assistant professor in the department of business administration, and Chloe Driskill, undergraduate business administration major, are the recipients of the 2022 Dr. Gary Bitter Research Award, faculty-student collaborative award. The award includes $3,000 for Phillips, a $1,000 scholarship for Driskill and $1,000 for the department of business administration’s enhancement fund.
Ma received her Ph.D. in information studies from Florida State University in 2014 and came to Emporia State in 2015 following a one-year joint appointment as a postdoctoral researcher. With the aim of holding a high standard in relation to scholarly productivity, quality and social responsibility, she has established a coherent and ongoing agenda for research and scholarship.
She has demonstrated an exemplary level of productivity and rigorousness in her creative interdisciplinary research, primarily in Library and Information Science and health-related information studies. She has channeled much energy and effort toward student high-impact learning experience by integrating her research findings and grants to curriculum development. As a dedicated professor, she works diligently to contribute to her field of study and the advancement of scholarly exposure to ESU students in her department and beyond.
The President’s Award for Research and Creativity was established in 1996 to honor an ESU individual who has been active in research, scholarly activity, or creative endeavors. The individual receiving this award must be peer-nominated and is selected by a subcommittee of the ESU Faculty Research and Creativity Committee.
