Another option to earn a four-year business degree is available thanks to a 2+2 articulation agreement signed today by officials of Emporia State University and Flint Hills Technical College.
In higher education, an articulation agreement means that two or more institutions have agreed to accept coursework from each other to award student degrees. Under today’s 2+2 agreement, students at FHTC who complete associate of applied science degree in business technology will be able to transition into ESU’s bachelor of science program in either business administration or business education.
“Our students are seeing this as a wonderful opportunity to be graduates from not only our institution, but to become graduates with a four-year degree,” said Kenda O’Mara, FHTC business technology instructor. “It inspires hope and shifts their thinking to explore the possibilities of continuing their education after an associate’s degree.”
Career opportunities with the two-year business technology degree include executive assistant, office manager, marketing specialist, legal assistant, financial assistant and payroll clerk. The additional work for the bachelor’s degree will expand those choices to include careers in sales, banking, entrepreneurship, finance and human resources.
“Emporia State’s partnership with Flint Hills Technical College is an enormous benefit for students who want to pursue their dreams of a career in business,” added Dr. Ed Bashaw, dean of the ESU School of Business.
The 2+2 articulation agreement for business degrees is the second agreement between the two institutions. In 2016, they signed a 2+2 articulation agreement between their respective nursing programs, the associate of applied science degree in healthcare administration and management at FHTC and the bachelor of science in nursing program at ESU.
