Green Wyrick Creative Writing Quivira Scholarships
Students who demonstrate talent in creative writing may apply for the scholarships by submitting manuscripts of fiction and/or poetry. The creative writing faculty will select the winning works by blind submission. Total Financial Aid + Stackable Scholarships shall not exceed the total cost of attendance.
Guidelines for submission
1) Submit only one piece of previously written work for consideration in either or both genres.
- Each nomination should have two title pages as follows: the first should include the title, author’s name, permanent address, phone number, name and address of the creative writing program, and student ID number; the second should include the title only.
- Submitted works must be unpublished and may not be under consideration elsewhere for the duration of the contest.
- No piece may exceed 25 pages.
- The author’s name should not appear anywhere on the manuscript except on the first title page.
- Prose must be double-spaced and typed and printed on a letter-quality printer. Poetry only may be single-spaced.
Submissions can be emailed as PDF attachments to the Director of Creative Writing at awebb@emporia.edu, or submitted in person at the English, Modern Languages, and Journalism Program in an envelope addressed to the Director of Creative Writing.
