Students must be accepted and enrolled at Emporia State University to be eligible for VA educational benefits. Eligibility for benefits is not determined by Emporia State University but by the Department of Veteran Affairs. A service member, veteran, spouse, or dependent must complete an education benefits application to determine eligibility.
VA Education benefits for New or Transfers Military Students
- Apply for eligible education benefits or update your place of training facility through the VA.
- Apply for admission and enroll at ESU. VA will only pay for courses required by your degree plan/programs.
- Complete a Veteran Information Form, this is your request to use benefits at ESU. This form will route to your Academic Advisor who will attest courses enrolled are required for your degree program. This form must be submitted for every term education benefits want to be used.
You will receive an email from the VA once ESU has certified your enrollment for the respective term, this email will come from the VA. All email communications will go to your ESU email address; it is your responsibility to check this account regularly.
Continuing ESU Student VA Education Benefits Instructions
After enrolling for the respective term, complete a Veteran Information Form, this is your request to use benefits at ESU. It is strongly recommended that you submit this form well before the first day of classes for each semester.
Students will receive an email from the VA once ESU has certified enrollment.
Additional Information
Once enrolled any change in your schedule should be reported to School Certifying Official. Changes in enrollment can result in an overpayment determined by the VA and students will be responsible for the debt.
