Undergraduate Admissions

Undergraduate Admission Requirements for
Academic Programs

A decision regarding your admission will be made as soon as your application file is complete and will be based on the following:

Cumulative Grade Point Average:
2.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for undergraduates.

English Proficiency (TOEFL score, etc.):
Minimum TOEFL score required for undergraduates is 520.
Computer-based TOEFL equivalent score is 190.
* If you do not meet these scores or have never taken TOEFL, you will be required to take the ESU English Placement Exam to verify your English proficiency.

Achievement on Examinations and Tests:
NOTE:
ACT or SAT is not required for undergraduate international student applicants, except for athletes.

Undergraduate Requirements for
Intensive English Program

Emporia State University offers both intermediate and advanced courses for students who need to improve their communication skills. We do not offer a beginning level.

Minimum TOEFL Scores for Intensive English Program for undergraduates is a 400. Computer-based TOEFL equivalent score is 97.

The duration of time to complete the Intensive English Program is based on the English Proficiency Test score as well as the student's initiative and performance in class. Students may be allowed to enroll in one or more academic courses while enrolled in the Intensive English Program depending on their placement scores.
